Ilopad for Fedora is published as an RPM package (.rpm) in the Ilopad repository. Add the repository once and dnf installs it and every later release, the same way it handles the rest of your system.
Add the Ilopad repository
The recommended way. Two commands, and updates arrive on their own afterwards.
Add the repository
Fetch the repository definition. It carries the address of the signing key, so there is nothing else to set up:
Install Ilopad
Install the package. On the first run dnf reports that it does not have the signing key yet, then shows you the key’s fingerprint and asks you to import it. It asks two times: one time for the repository and one time for the package. Make sure that the fingerprint is 9B88125FDFB1653D4A6E39EE3A59EC22020F75A0, then answer y:
You can also install Ilopad from Software: search for Ilopad and click Install.
sudo dnf upgrade. Every package and every index is signed, and dnf refuses anything that does not verify.Start Ilopad
Launch the server from the terminal, or find Ilopad in your applications menu:
The first time, Ilopad shows Permission Required, because it needs access to the input device. Click Allow and enter your password. The Ilopad window then opens. Steps 6 and 7 below show these screens.
Install a single release by hand
Use this if you would rather not add a repository. It installs one release and nothing more: Ilopad will not update itself, so you repeat these steps for each new version. Prefer to point and click? Fedora’s Software app opens a downloaded .rpm directly. No extra tools to install.
Find the downloaded package
Open Files and go to your Downloads folder. You should see the Ilopad .rpm you downloaded.
Open it and click Install
Double-click the .rpm. It opens in the Software app as a Local file. Click Install. If Fedora offers to enable third-party repositories, you can safely click Ignore. The local file does not need them.
Authenticate
Enter your password to authorize the installation, then click Authenticate. The dialog says untrusted software because Fedora does not have the Ilopad signing key yet. The repository method above adds the key.
Finish
The Software app installs Ilopad and its dependencies. When it is done, the button changes to Open.
Give Ilopad access to input
Click Open. The first time, Ilopad shows Permission Required: it makes a virtual mouse, keyboard and pen, and for this it needs access to the input device. Click Allow. The password dialog says: “Ilopad needs your password to let it control the mouse and keyboard.” Enter your password and click Authenticate.
Pair your iPhone
The Ilopad window opens. Click Add Device to pair your iPhone. To start Ilopad later, open Activities, type Ilopad and press Enter.
Uninstall
To remove Ilopad, with its settings and the permissions that it added, follow Uninstall on Fedora.
